In the exhibition Bearing Witness: Embroidery as History in Post-Apartheid South Africa, narrative embroideries recount historical and personal stories. Los Angeles-based artist Karen Hampton’s mixed-media textiles are steeped in oral history and express narratives, too. In this afternoon embroidery workshop for adults, participants will learn stitching techniques to “draw with thread,” creating their own personal narratives.

Materials will be provided and no experience is needed. Fowler members $30; general $35. Registration: fowlerprograms@arts.ucla.edu
